Art, Culture and Recreation
Salt Lake County abounds with cultural and recreational activities for residents and visitors. The Mayor and County Council are committed to helping cultural and recreational facilities and organizations thrive and are committed to maintaining and improving the health, and social quality of Salt Lake County citizens. Since 1997, The Zoo, Arts, and Parks program has provided funding that enables growth and development of cultural, artistic, zoological, botanical and recreational opportunities within the County.
For the past decade Salt Lake County has collected one additional penny on every ten dollars spent within Salt Lake County for the Zoo, Arts and Parks Program. Through an application process, the funds are distributed to local organizations and projects deemed qualified for funds by the Advisory Boards and Salt Lake County Council.
